You never know who, how or when you will meet certain individuals in your life. This goes without saying, my path crossed with Constance Cash over Instagram just under 3 months ago. Constance approached me to do a feature on her blog to express my interpretation of Dressing in Corporate America. During that same time, I was planning the MeYe Label Blog launch party for March 1, 2014 and in return I personally invited her to the event and she graciously accepted my invitation. As we met in person the immediate thought of future collaborations were in order. Now in the atmosphere, Constance asked me to be a part of her IAmTeamNatural Ultimate Natural Hair Spring Affair Event in Dallas, and after hearing her expectations, I couldn’t refuse.
Now fast forwarding, the Ultimate Natural Hair Spring Affair Event was held April 12, 2014 in Dallas Texas at the Shark Bar and Grill. The room was filled with beautiful women and men of every skin tone, hair texture and vibrancy of style. It started off with Ice Breakers to get the crowd to interact, followed by Speakers such as Dr. Lil who presented on “Eating for your hair”, followed by myself, in which my segment covered Corporate Chic presents “Naturals in the workplace” and finally the event was closed out by the featured guest, The Monroe Sisters presenting a Spring Preview and hair journey workshop.
The goal of Corporate Chic segment “Naturals in the Workplace” was to bring attention that you can be edgy yet professional and natural yet classy whether you are a woman or man. I featured four models including a male to give additional “flava”. I featured outfits from Forever 21, Buffalo Exchange Resale Shop (2439 Bissonnet St. Houston Texas) and a Custom Boutique owner Lyza Faye (www.lyzafaye.com).
For those that know my resume, I am “one” for bargain shopping. I am a firm believer that you can Dress the Part, Shop Smart. The showcase created a visual to the audience on how to achieve a Corporate Chic look from head to toe on a budget.
I truly hope that I was able to inspire and show individuals that having confidence will allow you to make your “office your runway”.
I want to thank the creator of “I Am Team Natural” Constance Cash for the opportunity to be a part of her vision and brand.
Also, I would like to thank my models for Ripping the Shark Bar and Grill Runway.
