A year ago I was asked by our Chapter President Pamela Levine to chair the 2015 Katy-Prairie View Chapter of Jack and Jill fundraiser event. Knowing my love of fashion without hesitation I obliged. Immediately my committee was formed and my vision was born.
Committee Members: Mimi Irvin, Chair / Bola Diaw, Co-Chair / GiaSchell Turner-McCoy / Idella Attuquayefio / Ketrese White / Lachandra Reed / Lashan Elison / Patricia Bush / Paulette Wall / Terhea Holmes / Thressa Jones
My niche is fashion with a focus on resale/vintage attire. That's how I chose the theme, "Remix on a Dime”.
To ensure the success of the fashion show, we teamed up with Karon Couture MUA/Stylist and Karen Outlaw Runway Choreographer/Resale Boutique owner or SixtyFourFifty. I developed a beautiful relationship with these AWESOME women previously during my modeling gig with the Nzuri Natural Hair Festival. There expertise helped make this event seamless.

As the models arrived; the atmosphere was full of excitement, anticipation and enthusiasm. The models were transformed with “Big Buns” created by Hairstylist www.facebook/AmberHandsofMagic Tabri , Shantania Leggins and Karon Couture.
Karon Couture and her team provided runway tips to break the ice as the models anxiously awaited behind stage.
As the Mistress of Ceremony, Senora Sims, requested the guest take their seats, the count down began. The intro video designed by Robot Agency was a masterpiece! “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross filled the room as the models began to prepare to hit the runway. DJ Slim, rocked the mic and Let’s Go by Neyo hit the speakers. Little Mason Ecby opened the show and the audience went wild. The audience response and applause set the room’s energy like none other.
The show consisted of 45 minutes of vintage, resale , organic attire. The audience provided a huge hand of applause as the finale was presented.
The fashions were showcased from five different resale boutiques in the Houston area. With the exception of SixtyFourFifty, MeYe Label handpicked all items that were showcased from the remaining boutiques. I attest that every item chosen is something I would wear or select for my sons. It was so exciting to see the final transformation.
