Many of you have asked questions on Instagram and Facebook regarding shopping and fashions tips so MiMi along with the MeYe Label team decided to answer a few of the most popular questions.
What is the inspiration behind Meye Label’s Dress the Part Shop Smart Motto?
The inspiration behind Dress the Part Shop Smart was to show women that we are all unique and individual so why should we be satisfied with blending in? Even if you’re rocking something as simple as jeans and a white tank, putting a twist on it with some accessories, blazer, flawless makeup and a neat bun can take that simple outfit to the next level. It’s also about understanding that you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars just to look good. I truly believe you can be fabulous on a budget. Which is why I chose to create a fashion label that would showcase resale, vintage, and budget friendly items. Now of course I splurge here and there but I always encourage people to shop within their means. You don’t have to break the bank every time.
How can women in the corporate world be fashionable and budget friendly at the same time?
You can guarantee that almost every store has a clearance rack, even the resale shops. Therefore it’s always possible to find “shop smart” items. Any woman can apply the shop smart strategy. Whether you shop at SAKS or TJ Maxx. The most important thing is being comfortable in what you’re wearing. Confidence is truly key no matter the price.
What are some go to stores and websites for Dress the part and Shopping smart?
Being that my overall wardrobe is vintage I’ve found some really fab resale & vintage boutiques via Instagram as well as other online stores. Many of these stores offers items that are extremely transitional, meaning you can go straight from the office to happy hour. The other great thing is that many of the stores offer both new and vintage items so there’s a lot of variety to choose from.

What are the keys to thrifting?
Many of you have inquired about how to thrift, and honestly I get it. If you’re new to thrifting it can definitely be a bit overwhelming. But here are a few things to keep in mind.
- Have an open mind
- Be able to scan the area. Look for your favorite patterns and colors as you walk through the aisles
- Know that its resale so there may be some imperfections such as slight stains, missing buttons, hanging threads, and some pieces may require alterations.
- Not all resale stores are eye candy at first sight, but don’t let that detour you. You never know what jewel you might find.
- Thrift stores aren’t always located in the most luxurious areas
- Lastly take a friend and make it an adventure.
